Asco, the world’s largest supplier of fitness equipment, has opened a gym at a mall in Toronto’s north end.
The Aco Fitness Complex, on the corner of Yonge and Dundas Sts., is the company’s first facility in Canada and is one of a series of new facilities being planned by the company to expand its operations in Canada.
“Asco is thrilled to be working with the City of Toronto to build a new gym in this city,” said Chris Pramuk, president and CEO of Asco.
“We believe that this location will provide an ideal environment for our staff to train, and will be a model for other facilities to follow.”
The building, which is being constructed at the corner with a large glass entrance, will be open to the public starting next year.
The gym will feature a variety of equipment from fitness shoes to mats, as well as a treadmill and a range of weights.
Pramak said the facility will have “flexible” seating and equipment, including barbells, bars, dumbbells and kettlebells.
Asco currently operates three fitness facilities in Toronto: the Toronto Sports Centre, the Toronto Sport Club and the Toronto Fitness Club.
The company said it is expanding in other cities, including Ottawa, Montreal and Edmonton.
“We are pleased to be able to partner with the city to create this new facility,” Pramusks said.
“The facilities we have built over the past three decades have helped thousands of people train, while providing countless benefits to our customers.”
Asco, which opened its first fitness facility in Toronto in 1998, has grown rapidly in the last 20 years.
The facility now has over 700 members and has over 2,000 employees.
It is one step closer to becoming the world leader in fitness equipment.
“Aco is very proud to be partnering with the Government of Ontario to make this project a reality and is very pleased to have this opportunity to contribute to the growing economy of this great city,” Pramsky said.
